Artist, Cori Maass, hails from California so it's no surprise she's making ~ waves~. She creates art, murals, tattoos and writes letters — the latter of which are super relatable & I remember reading at the gym when I was having a particularly #sadgirl day. Hilarious and absurdly talented, Maass is one to look out for. @coralmonday
1. What is your life motto right now?
There is no failing, only learning.
2. What's your most-played song within the past week? Why?
Hot Shower by Chance the Rapper because I have been missing Atlanta and it makes me think about it.
3. Your Top Three Books of All Time:
Gifts of Imperfection by Brene Brown
(EVERYONE NEEDS TO READ THIS BOOK, her works have changed my life. Daring Greatly by her is also in this same genre and life-changing.)
The 4 Hour Work Week by Tim Ferriss
(kind of a cheesy title, but taught me a lot about how to structure work flow.)
I don’t know if this is a top 3, but The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck by Mark Manson is one that I recently read and really appreciated. It talks about choosing your values and I really appreciated how it made me think about mine.
4. Your Approach to Health in One Sentence:
Start listening to your body, it will tell you what it needs and be patient with the process of learning to take care of yourself (physically, emotionally, spiritually, socially).
5. Your Approach to Happiness in One Sentence:
Have great people around you to remind you that life is worth living.
6. Your Approach to Dating in One Sentence:
Be completely you, don’t settle, and dedicate to the process of learning to love yourself fully.
7. Your Most Funny/Cringe Date:
When I was starting to talk to my first boyfriend, we were at a pool party together. We were playing bocce ball and as we were gathering the balls for a second round, he tried to show off by kicking on across the lawn. At the same time, I was bending down to pick one up and the one he kicked hit me in the face. I immediately start gushing blood and we have to go to the ER for stitches. Afterward, we went to Cheesecake factory and I had stitches and a bandaid on my eyebrow (mind you I had also been swimming so was a total mess overall). They sit us outside where it is light (not the nice dark inside) and he had to keep telling me that I was bleeding through the bandaid all night. Kind of set the stage for the rest of the relationship lol.
8. Your Most Used Word:
“Like”…. I am from California, it’s embarrassing but it is what it is.
9. Last screenshot:
Ok these were my last two, but I thought these were both funny lol
Self-care is taking care of your needs and honoring them, but we have to honor the fact that we are all connected. So in the process of identifying and caring for our needs without shame, we can also identify who to exert ourselves for.
10. What are 1-3 things you do when you feel blue to make yourself feel better? / or feel like you’re having an off day?
Run, call a friend, play guitar on my porch.
11. Insert most used emoji:
12. Most inspiring quote:
“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, 'Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?' Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”

13. What was the last thing that made you laugh?
The show Documentary Now on IG, it is genius. And this meme:
14. Who’s someone who you can rely on to always make you smile? Why/what do they do?
15. Best advice you’ve ever gotten:
You never arrive and everyone is figuring it out. That knowledge can give you the confidence to realize that you have something to offer to this world even while you are growing or unsure.
16. Someone/something that changed your life (for the better):
I worked with a start up company when I was 20, I got to cut my teeth doing design, branding, and marketing. While they completely screwed me over, it taught me a lot about business and I gained invaluable experience from it. Their rejection made me a stronger and more confident person and set me up for my current career.
17. Most overrated advice / trend right now (in your opinion):
I think that the trend of self-care is super important and the core of the messaging is correct. However, I think that there is a difference between self-care and selfishness and we can’t forget about that. Self-care is taking care of your needs and honoring them, but we have to honor the fact that we are all connected. So in the process of identifying and caring for our needs without shame, we can also identify who to exert ourselves for. Self-care shouldn’t end with you being lonely and unable to rely and be relied upon by others.
18. Something you feel like saying:
It bothers me when I see people looking at others’ successes and continually wishing to be in their position without doing the work to get there. It is easy to critique and criticize when you aren’t the one carrying the burden. I think a lot of us would be happier if we allowed ourselves to push through fear and obstacles and take responsibility for ourselves instead of spending time judging the ones who are putting themselves out there.
